LessonsTable of contentsLessons are basic entities used as containers for educational content. Each lesson is used as a concrete entity with content that concerns a specific subject. The lessons are created by the administrator while the professor is responsible for the content management inside lessons. Lessons are used as the main building block for the educational process. The version 3.6.11 includes the ability for the professors to add new lessons in the platform. Please note that in the Commercial versions and the advanced options the professor can only see lessons already assigned to him, in order to copy properties, clone a lesson or share folder with a lesson. The administrator defines whether the professors will have that option or not, through the System settings and the System options tab (Professors can create courses). Edit LessonIn order to create a new lesson the administrator clicks on the "New lesson" option. The lesson description page has several fields that need to be defined like name, category and price. It is of critical importance to decide whether the lesson will be available directly or exclusively through a course. If we define that the lesson will be available directly, then we will not be able to assign it to a course. The administrator can hide a lesson that is available directly from the catalog by checking the relevant check box. On the other hand, if we define that the lesson will be available exclusively through a course it will inherit the course's options e.g. the price or the users. After submitting the basic lesson info the administrator can assign users and roles to the lesson. Next to the new lesson button there is the import lesson button. The administrator can use this button to import lessons that were exported from eFront at a prior stage. By importing it, the lesson is automatically created and added into the lessons list.
Commercial editionsThe commercial editions of eFront include a few advanced settings for lessons. The administrator can define the maximum number of users that will be able to attend the lesson. He can set the period of time for which the lesson will be available to the users i.e. how many days after their registration they will be able to access it.
In addition, there are three more options outlined below:
This option allows the administrator to copy the properties of an existing lesson to a new one e.g. the lesson rules and conditions. This allows administrator to create lesson templates, for lessons with the same characteristics.
By cloning an existing lesson, the administrator can reproduce the same lesson with a different name. The whole content of the lesson is copied by using this function.
Sharing a folder between a new and an existing lesson eliminates the same file being stored duplicate times. Once shared, files in the file manager of the existing lesson will be shown in the file manager of the new lesson. By selecting the desired files, they can be used in the new lesson without being re-uploaded. Important :If we select to clone a lesson, the "Share folder" option is automatically deactivated. This is because when cloning a lesson, its files are automatically copied in the new lesson. Files4
