Course instance creation

A new instance can be added to a course through its main page. If we click on a course you can see that there is a tab with the name "Course instances". We can see one instance that have been added automatically to the list and is the main course.

In order to add a new instance we click on the "Add instance" button, and we can see the instance added to the list, with a "Instance #2" indication.

If we click on the new instance we are able to edit its information just like we can do with the main course. The only thing that can not be changed is the category to which the instance belongs, since it has to be the same with the main course's category.

The new instance can have its own lessons , and we can define whether they will be shared from the main course or they will be unique. If for example we decide to set them as unique in our instance, then the student may attend the same lesson through one instance and through another one, but have different results on each one of them. The professor can alter the instance lessons without changing the main course's lessons. In general, making the instance's lessons unique offers some independence in the instance. Through the users tab we can assign users to the instance and through the skills tab, skills. These assignments can also be done through the users and the skills page accordingly. If we want to assign an instance to a user, through his learning status and the courses tab, we click on the plus indication in front of the course's name to reveal all its instances. We select the instance that interests us, we define the user's role in the instance (professor/student) and we can see the lessons contained in this instance. A user may take more than one instances of the same course.

As soon as we assign the instance to the user, the main course is also indicated as checked in the main page, since when someone completes a course-instance he completes the related course as well.

Finally, we can change the course setting for one instance, for example we can define new rules or a new schedule for our instance, different from the main courses settings.

Course instance reports

The course instance reports can be found through the courses page. We reveal the courses instances by clicking on the plus button and we can see the reports tool under the course instance's operations.

By clicking on this button we are transferred to the course instance's reports page. This page offers the same functionality as the main course's reports.
